Dollidays 2020 What Lily & Ellie Got For Christmas

American Girl...

1. The Snow Fancy Accessories - Bag and Jewelry
The Snowflake bag is really beautiful and glittery and well made. The glitter doesn't shed at all. The pearl bracelet is really pretty too and the silver one with the star charm. The little snowflake ring is cute too but I wish it had a little box to put it in.
Quality: ★★★★★
Cuteness: ★★★★★

2. Courtney Moore 's Mini Pleasant Company Molly McIntire Doll
I'm so excited I got this. The doll is very pretty and moves its arms, legs and head like larger dolls. The clothing seems well made. The doll comes with a mini Pleasant Company Meet Molly book, a mini Pleasant Company catalog and a booklet that tells about how Courtney Moore got the doll. The only thing I dislike is the glasses - they're plastic, don't stay on the doll well, and feel like they could break if not careful.
Quality: ★★★★
Cuteness: ★★★★★

3. Set of 3 Headbands.
The three headbands are made of a hard rubbery plastic material. One is dark pink with polka dots, one light pink with a ribbon bow, and the last a silver glittery headband.
Quality: ★★★★★
Cuteness: ★★★★★

4. The 2019 Advent Calendar
I got the calendar back in summer when I saw it in the last chance section. I had been wanting it when it came out so I was super excited about it. Here's what came in it:
~A Holiday Card with 2 Nutcracker Tickets. They're made out a shiny thin paper like.most other sets and are really cuts. I will be adding the card to my holiday decor box anx the tickets I think would be cute on a diy board to display tickets and photos.
~A Nutcracker "Playbill" which I'll hang up with the tickets when I make the display board.
~A "Chocolate" Nutcracker which will be cute to. display on a table or counter with other Christmas treats.
~A Sparkly Snowflake ornament which is plastic with glitter and gems and hangs on a red ribbon.
~A pink teacup and plate, they're light pink with white details and the cup has a snowflake on it.
~A purse that gold and red with a gold chain handle.
~A pearl bracelet
~A blue rubbery plastic bow headband
~A blue tulle scarf
~White satin gloves
~A little red bow ring.
~A doll-sized Nutcracker Ballet book you can read.

It was a great set that came with a great mix of seasonal items but also things that can be used all year. My only complaint is again which I mention above on the Snow Fancy accessories is that I wish the red bow ring came with a box like the ring in the 2020 Advent Calendar.

Other...

1. Zuru Mini Brands Series One
~In mine I opened:
1. The bottle of caramel syrup (which I had already, but that's okay, because I can make a store someday.)
2. 2 Boxes of Moon Pies, strawberry flavor (Which is great because of the scale)
3. A bag of Warheads Sour Gummy Worms
4. Warheads Blue Raspberry Spray Candy
5. A container of Real Bacon Pieces
6. A package of wet wipes (perfect for right now. LOL)
7. Two Orbit Gum Containers, one fresh mint and one watermelon.
8. The little emoji pez container.

I will definitely be getting more Mini Brands in the future for sure!

My Thoughts on GOTY 2021, and more.

My Thoughts on Girl of the Year 2021

Here is my thoughts on American Girl 's Girl of the Year 2021 Kira Bailey.
I like her and her sets and outfits. I really wanted to get the wildlife rescue set (the one with the wallaby) but probably won't because of the price. I like her outfits, but the only one I would definitely buy soon if possible is the koala pajamas. They're really cute and I think Ellie would love them.
I will probably do some DIYs from Always Dolls such as the wildlife clinic (Which I'll probably turn into a veterinary clinic & doll doctor instead.

I hope to find some fun fabric to try to diy some Kira themed stuff.

A New Addition to the Doll Space

I was able to create a fun kitchen & living/sitting room to my doll space. It's walls are just tri-fold cardboard displays that can be folded up if I ever need to store it away. I added a fireplace made from a craft kit box, a couch made from a shoebox, a little coffee table and a fridge for their food. I have themed the kitchen to Blaire Wilson's restaurant and used the stuff from the Farm & Garden diy set from last year. There isn't a dining table yet though so I'll either have to use the doll desk when they eat or figure out a DIY for a small table that can be stored easily.
Right now I'm decorating the space for Valentine's day. I have a surprise for Ellie that came that she will love!

Thoughts on the Courtney Moore Movie Trailer.

I watched it and it definitely looks interesting. I'd love it if American Girl made a doll stop motion full length film, especially since no movies with actual humans can be filmed right now. Doing a doll stop motion would only require the human's voice.

I also think doing a stop motion would inspire people who watch it to get into doll stop motion. I know it's hard and time consuming but a project that takes a lot of time is great right now.

You can watch the trailer here.

I just hope it isn't an Amazon Prime only one and made so many people can watch it.

-Lily and Ellie and the Human. ♥

Thoughts on the new American Girl Historical Character: Courtney Moore.

American Girl's newest Historical character Courtney Moore came out this week. You can purchase her online right now and you'll find her in stores later this month.

The doll sells for $110 as just the doll & book, $140 with the accessories set, or $249 if you want more of the sets (Care Bears Sleeping Bag, Care Bears Pajamas, Lunch Set, T-shirt and Tank set, Leggings set and her Cardigan).

The doll has blue eyes, sandy-blonde hair, and is the Classic? (Not sure on names yet.) Face Mold. She comes in a light blue crop top with the words Totally Cool on it over a light purple tank top, a high waisted acid washed denim skirt, hot pink leggings, white faux-leather shrunched top pointed toe boots, and a hot pink scrunchie.

Her accessories set includes a cassette player, cassette tape that works with the boombox in the sleepover accessory set, cassette tape holder, headphones, four plastic bangle bracelets, a tube of pretend lip balm on a string, and a plastic button that says "Maureen for Mayor" to show support for her mom.

I am sure a lot of people will be enjoying the mini Pac-Man Arcade. It is currently for Pre-Order for $149.99.

Her bedroom set is a bunk bed. It sells for $225. It has pink metal rails and a printed wall at the bottom bunk. There's shelves on the side and a place to hang clothes too. It has rainbow pillows and comforters for both bunks, and a Pac Man Pillow. It also includes some smaller accessories such as a potted plant, a telephone, books, book-ends, a diary, a calendar and a set of stickers of music and movie posters to decorate it.

The release came with two adorable Care Bears sets: Pajamas and a Sleeping bag.

The pajama set $28 is a Care Bears Nightie, A matching light blue scrunchie and light blue fuzzy socks.

The Sleeping bag set $36 includes a Care Bears Sleeping Bag, matching pillow and a mini stuffed Care Bear.

There's a Sleepover Accessory set $50 that includes a working boombox (the cassette tape that comes in her acessories set works with it), four cassette tapes with cases, two cans of fruit punch with straws, a bowl of tortilla chips, a cootie catcher and a friends book.

There's also a Caboodles make-up & hair accessories set $36. It includes a Caboodles makeup case, pretend hair spray can, white hair pick, blue and pink scrunchies, green plastic banana hairclip, pink lace bow, pretend make-up compact and brush, and four sheets of nail stickers.

Two school themed sets came along as well. A Lunch Set and School Supplies Set

The School Supplies Set $30 looks like it's definitely inspired by Lisa Frank. It includes a binder, two folders, 20 sheets of lined paper, puffy stickers, pink pencil box, three pencils and three erasers shaped like a cat, a dog and a rhino.

The Lunch Set $25 includes a Pac Man Lunchbox and matching insulated container, a bologna and cheese sandwich cut in two, apple slices, a container of cheese puffs and a brownie with sprinkles.

The item that I think everyone is the most excited about is the mini Pleasant Company Molly Doll.

The Pleasant Company Doll $30 includes a mini Molly McIntire doll in a Pleasant Company box, a mini Pleasant Company Christmas catalog, and a mini Meet Molly book.

Courtney's other clothes come in Mix and Match; each piece sold separately. The options are:

An acid washed Denim Jacket $18

Hot Pink Cropped Jacket $12

Colorful Patterned Cardigan $18

A Splatter Print Dress $18

Tropical Patterned Shirt and Purple Tie $16

80s Graphic T-shirt  and Green Tank Top $16

Acid Washed Jeans $16

Purple Lace and Light Blue Leggings $16

Purple Skirt and Hot Pink Suspenders $16

White High Top Sneakers with hot pink laces $16

Hot Pink Flats and Light Blue Socks $12

A colorful Belt Bag and Watch $16

Hot Pink Sunglasses $10

Fashion Accessories $16 includes a hot pink lace bow headband, two sets of earrings (pink and green posts with green triangle dangles and pink star dangles), a green scrunchie and purple lace fingerless gloves.

I would really like to purchase the Care Bears pajamas and sleeping bag, and some of her mix and match clothes. And maybe the miniature Molly doll. Only time will tell.

I hope to DIY some of the stuff though so stay tuned!

Reviews: Tenney Grant Craft Kit and another AG Haul?

I got my Tenney Grant Bracelet Craft Kit a while ago but still haven't done anything with it yet. (Oops!)

I did open it though. Not sure if it had to do with it being on sale or something, but the instructions sheet was not stapled together and was separated.

The thread seems to be good quality and had multiple colors to pick from. There's also elastic thread and lots of beads.

Beads -
Come in shapes such as round (small and big), square, oval, and cylindrical.
Colors are: Black, Clear Transparent White, Shiny Silver, Shiny Gold, Dark Red, Medium Red, Coral, Light Orange, Dark Orange, Yellow, Lime Green, Light Green, Several shades of blue, Five shades of Purple, Six different Pinks.
There's also 12 rectangular white beads with words on them like "peace", "love" and "forever".

Thread - Pink, 2 Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple.

The Charms are really fun. There's stars, music notes, even a bird charm. I'm using the metal charms for Ellie's necklace but saved the rubbery ones.

It comes with a foam wheel for making the bracelets and a plastic tweezers with a spoon on the other end for beads.

Overall this was a great set. It is still on sale on the Kohl's website so if you shop on Kohl's check it out.

I'm going to make some bracelets with it soon and I will take pictures. I might do some GOTY inspired jewelry with them.

Stay tuned for my second AG Haul!

-The Human

My first AG Haul!

I'm so excited to have done my first American Girl haul thanks to their Last Chance clearance section. Here's what I got

1: 12 Days Until Christmas Set
I was super excited when I saw the Nutcracker themed Christmas countdown was for sale. This was one of the main reasons I did this haul. I won't be opening it until Christmas of course. I'll give a full review of it then!

2: Doll Decades Craft Book
This is the second reason I did the haul. It's the final craft kit I didn't have yet and I'm very happy about getting it. It has crafts themed to different eras starting at the 1890's and ending at 2010's. It has punch-out crafts such as a smartwatch, laptop, and fancy hand fan. It also includes really cute light blue glasses, a diner order pad, and a fold-out dance floor.

3: Fringe Vest
I think this was probably part of last year's summer Mix n Match set. It's a cute coral colored lacey vest with fringe that would look good with lots of outfits for summer.

4: Purrfectly Warm Winter Accessories
I know this was definitely part of last winter's Mix n Match Set. When I first saw it I knew I wanted it and I'm happy to finally have it. It's black fingerless mittens with silver hearts and super-cute matching cat ear earmuffs with silver glitter on the ears. 😻

5: Sea Breeze Top
This was from the same set as the Fringe Vest. It's a light blue tank top with a ruffled part at the top, perfect for summer.

6: Seashell Lace Tank
Another part of the set with the previous tank top and fringe vest. This is a light pink tank with lace at the top.

7: Set of 10 Hangers
I just really needed more hangers. It's necessary when you have a lot of doll clothing, and these were basically $1 each! Also they're made to also hang up a skirt or pants on them too. One thing I did notice is some other brands and handmade pants, etc don't stay on very well.

8: Starry Sunglasses
Lily and Ellie actually don't have a lot of sunglasses or glasses in general. These are sunglasses that are light blue with pink stars on the sides.

9: AG Swim Accessories for Dolls
It's a soft white swim towel with pink stars & American Girl embroidered on it that has an attached bag, a readable summer themed magazine, plastic translucent pink star print water bottle, and a pink polka dot sunscreen bottle. It's summer after all! This set had clear elastic bands holding the water bottle & sunscreen on the cardboard, which I kept to help my dolls hold them, since unlike newer sets they don't have handles.

10: Stripes & Dots Swimsuit
I got the black, pink and white striped and polka dot swimsuit to go with the sunglasses and swim set. Lily and Ellie didn't have a swim suit yet for summer photoshoots. I think Ellie might have claimed this one though.I
It's made of a swimsuit material and the top zips in front and bottoms have elastic waistband.
Since I don't have an AG doll yet, I was curious how it'd fit on my OG doll, Ellie. It doesn't look the same as it probably would on an AG doll but still fits easily.

I do have one last thing that isn't coming until later on. The thank you heroes nurse outfit. It's going to be perfect for some Photostories I have planned. I also have a Tenney Grant Bracelet making set that came yesterday that I'll review soon.  I'm excited to use some of the charms for Ellie's changeable charm necklace.

My final thoughts.
I know it's not AG's fault, just the shipping company's, but my package arrived late. (Was supposed to be Wednesday, came on Sunday.)
I will give five stars for the packaging itself. The two shirts, swimsuit, sunglasses & vest were on cardboard and in plastic. They were easy to remove from the cardboard, unlike other brands who use thread & plastic ties to hold things on. The Swim Accessories were also on cardboard in plastic but the water bottle and sunscreen were held in by elastic, which wa was easy to remove. The winter accessories were in plastic and in a box.

Packaging - ★★★★★
Quality - ★★★★★
Price - ★★★★★ (Although they were on sale after all!)
Does it work with other dolls? So far, yes, the clothes fit Our Generation dolls, and should fit Madame Alexander since they're skinnier than OG. I don't have a My Life As doll but I feel like the clothes would be big on them? Not sure.

You can find most of the stuff on the Last Chance clearance section except I don't see the swimsuit on it anymore so that might be sold out. If you're on the website and tap the three lines to open categories Last Chance is right under Sale.

Photos:

Stay tuned for my review of the Tenney Grant craft kit!

Coming Soon!

I've got some great posts planned for this month!
1: My Doll Summer Camp posts. Except instead of an ordinary summer camp, it's taking place at my doll's home or "backyard" instead of like it's a whole new place. #QuarantineCamp2020!
It's going to have new themes every time I post. STEM, certain decades, Scouts, Animals, whatever I come up with that day. I'm not entirely sure on the posting schedule however because it depends on how long it takes me to prepare everything ahead.

2: An American Girl Shop Haul. My first one ever, actually! I got some awesome summer stuff in the Last Chance section that I'm super excited about, plus two things for wintertime.

3: Handmade Clothing! I'm planning on sewing some new outfits for Ellie (and Lily) soon! But of course Ellie will be the one to add her thoughts!

4: A Room Makeover: I'm hoping to make more stuff for Lily & Ellie's room including more blankets and pillows and decor. I'm really considering making Ellie's theme a very colorful, aesthetic, VSCO style filled with rainbows and llamas and unicorns!  LOL. Lily on the other hand is probably more aesthetic but sporty and horse themed stuff too. And it wouldn't be perfect if it didn't include their favorite Disney characters!

5: National Holiday posts. This month is National Best Friends Day, National Donald Duck Day, National Go Fishing Day, National Garfield Day, and Ellie's favorite: National Pink Day! And of course the first day of summer!

6: More Lily Reviews!: A My Life As Set I'm yet to review as well as two Our Generation sets.
7: Ellie Learns About!: Ellie is super curious and therefore is ready to blog about anything she learns about! Whether it's the world around us, animals, or a really random fun fact, she's going to share what she's discovering and learning and her crazy thoughts on it!

Stay tuned!

Lily Reviews: Charm Boots Craft Kit

Lily here again for another Lily Reviews.
We recently got the American Girl Charm Boots Craft Kit for Christmas. Well, here's our review...

Ratings - 1 to 5 stars. 1 is bad, 5 is good.
Difficulty: ★
The kit required a lot of getting the needle through the charn without, oh no, losing the thread out of the needle. It also required the ability to tie a square knotknot. And making tassels.

Quality: ★
The elastic on the boots barely stretches enough to get the button through. We had to use some of our own thread because we ran out because the knots didn't stay and we had to redo them.
Also, the needle threader broke.

Fun play - wise: ★★★
As soon as the charms are added they are really cute boots.

Would we recommend it?
Well, unless you want a LOT of work, then no. I'm certain the Charm Flats aren't any different.

Signing off!

Lily Reviews: GOTY 2019 Blaire Wilson

Lily Anna ~ Ellie ~ The Human

*A Note from the Human: We have yet to purchase any of Blaire's collection. This is merely our opinions from what we've seen in videos and the AG website. We may update with a new post if we do get any of it.*

Hey everyone, Lily Anna here with my first post of Lily Reviews. I've always wanted to be a newspaper reporter just like Kit Kittredge. She's a big inspiration to me and I hope to get a doll of her the future.
*Note from The Human: Mini doll, not the actual doll!*

You're OBSESSED with Kit, Lily.

Can I just start the review, without distractions, please, Ellie? Go read your Grace book or something. I'm trying to review Blaire's collection!

Can I do some input on her fashion? Pleeeeeeease?

Okay, fine! Let's begin. We shall start with the small stuff.
First we have Blaire's piglet and lamb. The piglet retails at $20 and the lamb for $25.
I think the piglet is really cute. Being a farm girl at heart I'd love a pet pig.

But pigs are SO messy! They roll in MUD, Lily! We don't need muddy footprints in our room, Lily!

We  do already have two dogs with muddy paws...

Cheri does not have muddy paws! Tiny is your dog, your muddy paw problem.

*Sighs* Ellie, chill. You're job is to comment on Blaire's fashion, not how messy animals are.
Now then, let's continue.
Ah, yes, the lamb. Can't forget the lamb. It's name is Penelope. It's really cute I guess but I think the piglet could be cuter...

Okay, seriously, if you had to chose just ONE, which would it be?

The piglet, obviously! It's $5 cheaper and super cute.
Now then, let's move on to...
Blaire's Garden Set. Honestly, I think $50 is a little pricey for what comes in it. But the Silkie Chicken, Dandelion (Dandy for short) is so cute! Plus it has a removable nesting box, a nest, and eggs! The only other stuff is six plants to plant: Basil, Chives, Dill, Lavender, Primroses and Marigolds; Six plant markers, the planter box, a shovel and a watering can, and a basket.

I hate gardening, it's SO messy! But at the same time I love primroses and lavender and marigolds!

Next up is Blaire's accessories. This is definitely on our, err, Ellie's wishlist. It retails at $30 but we'll be keeping an eye out for a sale first!

Yes! I'd love to have this! It's fabulous! The canvas tote is super cute and I'd carry all the stuff in it! The light pink tablet is definitely a must have. It comes with 2 double sided screens showing the Pleasant Valley Farms website, a recipes website, a Pinterest type website  to look up party ideas and the home page. Then theres a cute pink clipboard to hold a party planning notebook and stickers for the mood board. I love planning parties so I would love this! There's also a matching pink calligraphy pen, a Pleasant Valley Farms postcard, and a bouquet of lavender!

Thanks for taking over that one, Ellie. *sarcasm*
We've finally made it to Blaire's fashion...
First up is the In Bloom Pajamas, which which retail for $24.

I love the shad shade of purple these are! And the pattern on the shorts are fabulous! Plus, it comes with purple pom pom slippers! Definitely a must-have!

Next is  Blaire's Bridesmaid Dress which retails at $36.

Somewhat pricey but super cute! The pale blue is gorgeous and lace is totally IN! The outfit comes with a pink flowered headband, a velvet choker necklace, and bedazzled flats!

Now we have the Floral Flair Outfit, which retails at $28.

This is one of the ugliest outfits I've seen. The light orange zigzag headband and sandals are cute, and the purple leggings are OK, but the tunic shirt?
Just bows - Go ahead.
Just buttons? - Ok.
Bows AND Buttons? - Never! N-E-V-E-R E-V-E-R!

Alright, calm down Ellie and let's move on to the Gardening Outfit. It retails for $32.

Pricey but cute! The shirt would look great with anything! The overalls? Totally IN! The green rain boots and green choker necklace really look great too!

Next we have the Gardening Accessories, definitely a must if you got the garden.  They retail at $20. Comes with a floral print apron, a straw hat, and gardening gloves.
Now we are up to the BIG sets.

Blaire's Party Decor, retails at $85.
It's a little  pricey considering I don't think most of what it comes with would be particularly useful. The arbor with the flower decorations and orchid curtains would only be useful for a Blaire or Party themed photo shoot. The three tier cake is probably  the best part. It can become a one, two, or three tier cake and has 3 different cake toppers. It also comes with 2 cake slices to serve on "love" plates. There's  a bronze cake stand, matching cake servse and 2 forks. The table has a purple tablecloth that can be taken off, therefore the table could be used for anything. There's also a bouquet of flowers, heart shaped notebook and wish vase.

On to Blaire's Family Farm Restaurant, which retails at $300.
It comes with a lot of cute stuff, but I'd rather DIY one considering the price.

And finally.... Blaire Wilson herself!
Her red hair and green eyes are gorgeous, and we might just have to DIY a bumblebee dress and bandanna bracelet!

Now for the scoop: What would we buy?
Item | Reg. Price | 50%
Blaire's Accessories | $30 | $15
In Bloom Pajamas | $24 | $12
Gardening Outfit | $32 | $16
Bridesmaid Dress |$36 | $18
Blaire's Garden | $50  | $25

If we  got just the 3 main items:
Reg.: $30 + $24 + $32 = $86
50% Off: $15 + $12 + $16 = $43

Review: Doll Celebrations AG Craft Kit

First of all, it says it comes with:

  • 32-Page How-to Book
  • 5 sheets of punch-out cardstock for a checkerboard and pieces, book covers, a kinara, a guitar, Easter masks, a picture frame, and a sign for each month.
  • 1 sheet of glitter cardstock for a guitar and Christmas ornaments.
  • 1 sheet of stickers for a calendar clock, a smiley-face shirt, Canadian flags, valentines, and Easter masks.
  • 1 large sheet of paper for a doll-sized Christmas tree.
  • 2 matching hook-and-loop -fastener bracelets for dolls.
  • 5 sheets of fun paper for a wind sock, ice cream cones, Canadian flags, pet collars, a picnic basket, a photo of a doll & cat, a Hanukkah banner, Valentine's day cards, and Christmas ornaments.
So not much really. Now lets see what is the craft for each month.
  • January: a calendar clock (supposably for new years day); Indoor clouds and a punch-out sign for Martin Luther King Jr Day; A no-sew blanket.
  • February: 4 Valentines, 2 hearts 2 cards, for Valentine's Day; For Presidents day we just get to "dress up a white doll tee"; 2 paper collars for Love Your Pets Day.
  • March: Designing a green tulle skirt for St Patrick's Day; Make mini flowers for Plant a Flower Day; and "take a walk in the park with your doll and find small rocks to paint" for Take a Walk in the Park Day.
  • April: a "spilled ice cream cone" for April Fools' Day; A rabbit and chick mask for Easter; "dress up alike" for Look Alike Day.
  • May: A Maypole for May Day; paper lanterns for Cinco de Mayo; Red, White, and Blue lights for Memorial Day.
  • June: A pretend pool for the first day of Summer; The bracelets in the kit for Best Friend Day; A picture of your doll and their cat for Hug a Cat Day.
  • July: Canadian Flags for Canada Day; Fake sparklers for Independence Day.
  • August: Photos for Sisters' Day; a left-handed guitar for Left-Handers Day; 4 mini books for Book Lovers' Day.
  • September: Make a teddy bear for Teddy Bear Day; A checkerboard and pieces for Checkers Day; Make a Picnic Basket for Labor Day.
  • October: Make a ghost costume for Halloween; make a doll sized fancy hat for Mad Hatter Day; Smiley-face Stickers for World Smile Day; Make an owl for Teachers' Day.
  • November: Make a table for Thanksgiving
  • December: Make a paper Christmas tree; A Hanukkah banner; a kinara for Kwanzaa.
I wish there was more crafts included, especially for the big holidays like Christmas or Halloween.

I think this kit is only partially worth it. If you want a sign for every holiday, not month since there isn't one for September, a paper Christmas tree, 4 new books, a checkerboard, a basket (which was hard to put together), 2 easter masks, Canadian flags, a kinara, and a Hanukkah banner it may not completely be of interest.

That's all for now.
